Having visited the international festival of youth in Moscow (1957), Igor Khoma got inspired with the idea of organizing his own jazz band. Together with his brother Oleh, they created a family duet. But the obsessed brothers had so much enthusiasm that other fans of jazz music got attracted by them. This is how the first after World War II Ukrainian jazz band "Rhythm" (1958-1960) appeared in Lviv..

"Medicus" is a variety jazz band. The year of creation is 1960. The first name of the orchestra was "Rhythm". The jazz band of Igor Khoma was the first to represent Ukraine at the jazz music festival in Tartu (1960) and the only Ukrainian collective at international jazz festivals in Tallinn (1965,66,67)..

..Not tall, with a somewhat watchful glance but merry eyes and sincere smile, he soon got accustomed to a new community and became its soul. Having no relatives in Lviv, Oleh visited us quite frequently. These meetings grew into merry improvisational concerts, so sometimes we had to beg pardon to our neighbors for the too powerful voice of the "little Caruso"..
