Opium

Rock-band Opium was founded in 1997 by Sasha Ivashchuk and Andriy Elistratov. Brothers Yuri and Andriy Rebrina were engaged in a project by joint efforts of Sasha and Andrij. At the time of creative collaboration an album "Angelic Soul" was created. But it was not recorded because of absence of sufficient sponsorship.

Albums:

Opium. Molysja na mene. (Pray to Me)

"Opium" honestly searches for its own rock language in texts and in music, and this is nice. In our opinion, "Opium" plays simple classic rock – and this, you should agree, is not that easy. Besides, the song lyrics do not resemble a simple set of rhymes and meter at all – the experience lived through, live thoughts and feelings are obviously inlaid into these words.

Opium. Pochuttya i Medali. /digi-pack/. (Feelings and Medals)

It's nice that there are still bands that undertake performing just rock, without flirting with unclear definitions of style, without the pop aplomb or pretended mystery. And the cello as part of it does not interfere. Just honest music, straight and simple (but not empty) lyrics – you know, not that much is needed...

Songs:

Yevshanzillya 4. Rock Collection 2010. (mp3).

In 2010, following the tradition now, "Yevshanzillya" (already for the fourth year in succession) has become the first rock collection in the New Year. And, again as usual, the main focus is not on pop-rock and heavy alternative – as it happens in the majority of rock collections – but on a wide range of every other rock music.
