"Osanna" men's choir. Ukrainian sacred music.

"Be praised autumn!” – do you remember these words? This chamber choir, however, does not praise autumn, since it is a church choir. That’s why its repertoire contains the songs of the divine character. A lot of them. Rework of the compositions of Berezovskyi, Vedel, Bortnyanskyi, adaptation of carols and folk songs of Lysenko, Lyudkevych, Kolessa, liturgical songs of Zenon Zlochevskyi. This disc gives us the chance to listen practically to all of this repertoire. And I must admit that it is worth while listening to it. At least because it is beautiful. The choir has been existing for nearly 15 years and it has never wasted time – its sounding deserves attention. It is good and warm – when you are listening to this recording, you feel as if you were communicating with music directly, without any mediators. As for me, I find the situation when a performer and his personality are in the background and do not draw attention to themselves to be very important for the spiritual music. Only in such a case you may feel the flow, but not the carrier. And today there are a lot of carriers, especially greedy ones. Unnecessary decorations prevent you from seeing those things which are inside. But in this particular case there are no unnecessary things – only warmth and beauty remain.
