Actually, the very fact that this collection of festival records has appeared to the light of the day is already quite a good present to all fans of live Ukrainian music. Both for those who saw and heard these performances with their own ears or eyes – and, certainly, for those who have never had a chance during 2004-2006 to visit the festival. But the compilers went a bit farther in the pleasantries. First, the collection is released as two discs, even though there was no urgent need for that, the material could be squeezed on one disc. The two-disc release is just a sincere step towards the audience, for it is obviously easier to listen attentively to a disc lasting 40 minutes than to one that is twice longer, right? And another pleasant nuance: this two-disc release will be realized at the price of an ordinary, single one. This condition of the producer also brightly testifies to the primary objective of both the festival as a whole and this release in particular. Actually, the purpose is popularizing Ukrainian culture as such, laying paths to those people who never before paid attention to this kind of music. Both authentic examples and any creative displays based on Ukrainian folklore are in every possible way greeted and supported. As a result, by the way, that is exactly how the tracks were divided between the discs. On the first one – Ukrainian folk songs in the pure, raw form. Well, and the second one already represents modern music based on folk one – what they call folk-rock and with similar word combinations. Moreover, the release has also comprised a selection of pictures from the festival, therefore you will not only hear, but also see something. You will find a lot of familiar names on the both discs – and these are really the best names, it is by not chance that they are so much respected by the public. At that – far not only Ukrainian one. So, welcome to the Dreamland – and let you feel comfortable there...

Still everyone who is not indifferent to the Western musical tradition in its pro-Celtic variations. Having heard this album. I think. Will not be. Frustrated.

...this album contains, apart from the rest, songs for Christmas and Easter. However, the objective of that concert program was to demonstrate to Ukrainians the widest possible palette of Georgian singing – so, festive, lyrical, feast, humorous and other songs from various regions of Georgia, instrumental melodies, as well as solo singing could be heard there.

One song, another one, and here it already seems that when performing they appear in some different dimension, fly up in sorrow and tranquility. Here the song fades, and in an instant the audience applauds sincerely - and these applauses seem to abruptly bring the women back on the scene. Possibly, too abruptly – and again they squint at the light, smile awkwardly. But in another moment a new song starts – and a new splash, new release in tranquility...

...However, they thus somehow fit into the concept of "ethno-rock" – but nevertheless the entire picture comes out very colorful. And – it is nice that within the same style one can hear so diverse, unconventional, brilliant music.

Sashko Polozhynsky, as a modest person, did not print his name on the cover of this album – because he did not perform as a singer in this case (except for, it seems, only one song). But – he is the author of the idea, the producer, the sole jury selecting the songs, etc.

See yourself what a wide styles palette is offered by the collection: pop-rock, reggae, art-rock, hip-hop, folk-rock, heavy blues, post-rock... Nevertheless, the disc looks integral – there is a certain inner line that truly unites, links such, seemingly, different approaches to creativity.

...the collection was compiled skillfully – the recording house "Kraina Mriy" is experienced in doing that. As a result, it is really interesting to listen to it: familiar pieces alternate with quite fresh ones, known groups – with those that are now only gaining speed. And two basic features unite all of these songs – good quality and inflammatory energy.

This one is a really powerful record – the best of the series. And, definitely, one of the best rock albums in general for the last couple of months. Besides, it presents a number of songs that haven’t had any official release yet – that’s exclusive!

...there are quite a lot of talented musicians in the alternative, indie-direction here. And among those represented in the collection – there are such that no doubt deserve, at least, European recognition. However, you'd better make sure of that yourself.

We should admit, the collection has appeared to be great – it is not just pleasant and interesting to listen to. It gives multiple occasions to be proud of that Ukrainian rock music, in spite of the frequently scornful attitude on the part of mass media, still not just lives on – but becomes more and more diversified, deep, strange, high-quality.

Every year Mazepa Fest becomes more interesting and varied – this is obvious. It is pleasant to observe that in Ukrainian rock music there appear more and more expressive faces that are worth paying attention to.

As always a distinct and clearly defined musical treat. I listen to the music with my daughter and at 17 I am glad she is partial to these songs.
