MRF is another side project by Olena Voynarovska and the band
Fleur. But, in contrast to
Amurekimuri – these are own lyrics, and they are not in English. Penetrating, nervous and gentle, sometimes as if broken poetry by Voynarovska has long had an entire army of fans – and in this incarnation Olena does not betray herself. These are again the transparent twilight sketches from the world where melancholic detachment and readiness to furiously defend one's own place under the sun – do not contradict each other. Here, immersion in painful personal experiences is intertwined with generalizations at an almost epic scale – and, one could say, her own mythology is built up. Although, after all, it's just normal for anyone who writes "from within" and grows together with one's own texts. Plus – the recording employed two dozen musicians, and not in vain: the music fabric is not just layered, but it absorbs absolutely different stylistic tool and areas, from acoustic impressionism to heavy, deep trip-hop, elements of noise, jazz rock, etc. That said – it is interesting to note that a significant portion of this double album is composed of purely instrumental compositions. Absence of words in the sophisticated world – it is not yet silence, not void. This is – freedom. This is the word of silence, which everyone should hear and understand in his or her own way. For freedom – it is never one for all, it is very personal stuff...
