Voanerges. Zlata Vrata.

The band "Voanerges" has existed for almost ten years already, and this album is now the third release in its history. But – for the first time in a serious number of copies, at a serious level. At that "Voanerges" plays music that is very far from the conjuncture – in any case, till recently local conjuncture has been grazing rather far from this kind of music. But it is evident that priorities have been changing lately – it is for this reason that this release is a cause for curiosity and optimism. We learn to estimate new music with the ethnic basis. The guys from the group name their music neo-folk. And they define "neo-folk" as a mixture of gospel, world, ethno, rock, funk, rap, hip-hop – finally, it is presently one of the most actual directions for development. At least, in the creative sense – there are great prospects. Actually, "Voanerges" demonstrates how varied music fruits such experiments may bring. Besides, a very important constituent of the group's work is the ideological basis. And it, in this case, consists of such concepts as patriotism, deep religiosity, dignity, and historical memory. It is round them that the musical wheel turns, and its main spoke, to my mind, is still gospel. Well, and all of that together – forms the crèche of the new time.
