Mariya Stefyuk. Ukrainian songs.
Maria Stefyuk has been an opera singer for 33 years. She was invited to sing in Milan, Madrid, Wiesbaden, Drezden and Berlin, and practically everywhere she won sincere recognition of her talent of a skilful performer. Today she is one of the brightest representatives of the modern Ukrainian national vocal school. Her repertoire contains more than 20 opera parts, different by styles and characteristics. But this time I am going to speak about one more peculiarity of her talent - I mean the way she performs Ukrainian folk songs. We have already mentioned that it is practically always interesting to hear how masters of opera perform these songs. Actually, it is interesting to listen to Ukrainian songs of this album, too. Maria Stefyuk is famous for her skilful technique, as well as for her soprano – clear, transparent, flexible and able to render the subtlest shades of the strongest emotions. We invite you to join us.

Borys Hmyrya. Za myr na Zemli. (For the Peace on Earth)

The military theme is a special page in life and work of Borys Hmyrya, taking into account his forced stay in the territory of Ukraine occupied by fascists (1941-1944)... Only a crystal clear person could perform pieces by soviet composers on military topics in that way.

Dmytro Hnatyuk. Nich taka misjachna. /light pack, slim box/.

There is something in it, some transparent depth, which does not leave you indifferent, so that you feel that the song is performed not formally, as it happens sometimes, but it comes from inside. That’s the reason why it sounds somehow intimately – as if this person himself once composed this song and still remembers why and how it happened.
