It happened long-long ago, in the 16-th century, when musical workshops only appeared in Ukraine, that folk songs and dances made in the first place the backbone of the repertoire of all ensembles of those times. It's natural. Still, it is also natural that in the course of time there appeared more and more author's adaptations of folk melodies and their transference for performance on different instruments. And I think that nobody would deny the fact that the quality and skill of adaptation, as well as comprehension of material, directly influences a listener's interest. Due to all those facts, it is pleasant that the recordings of already recognised masters, such as Mykhailo Zavadskyi and Yuriy Yatsenko, are presented here. The latter, by the way, is a famous poly-instrumentalist, thanks to whom the art of performance on a fret kobza, mandolin, banjo and similar instruments is being revived now. Note! All the tapes presented here are sold on AS IS terms. That is, we do not undertake responsibility if a certain tape cannot be played on your player or has lost its technical qualities over time because it was produced long time ago. All the cassettes are sold in their factory packaging (sealed in cellophane film). 1. Ukrajins‘ka shumka 2. Stojit‘ hora vysoka 3. Balamute 4. Roman 5. Pol‘ka-kokhanochka 6. Metelytsja 7. The military theme is a special page in life and work of Borys Hmyrya, taking into account his forced stay in the territory of Ukraine occupied by fascists (1941-1944)... Only a crystal clear person could perform pieces by soviet composers on military topics in that way.

There is something in it, some transparent depth, which does not leave you indifferent, so that you feel that the song is performed not formally, as it happens sometimes, but it comes from inside. That’s the reason why it sounds somehow intimately – as if this person himself once composed this song and still remembers why and how it happened.

This album is a response to expectations of everyone who realized that Tina Karol was capable of much more than what she had so far demonstrated. Stuff of that kind was something that not only Tina, but the entire Ukrainian "first echelon pop scene" missed. A test (for herself and her habitual audience), a pilot..

Given the rapid development of Tonya's music career lately – it is even surprising that the album has been released only now. On the other hand, it could mean that she did not disregard the possibility of more thorough handling of the material. And the result deserves attention due to its..

Anyway, the album turns out really atmospheric – it seems to invite to recall the past, but at the same time goes slightly beyond time limits. Because Lucyna's songs are about stories that occur at all times – where there are two people and something between them..

"Three Poplars" is the first CD by Marenych Trio. The greatest treasure of Ukrainians are songs, they reflect the soul of the nation. This ensemble, which is actually a duet, performs the most popular Ukrainian folk songs. But – pay attention – an academic vocal performance sounds here. As for the musical accompaniment, it is not academic at all. That’s why this disc is meant for those listeners who do not like opera so much, but listen to a beautiful and skilful singing with great pleasure.
