"Three Poplars" is the first CD by Marenych Trio. I believe one can hardly find in Ukraine a person who would not know songs by the famous trio or have not heard about their work. And this is natural – in 1998, the group celebrated its anniversary, 25 years of their creative activity. Surprisingly, discography by the trio is quite modest. In 1979, the first record by "Marenych Trio" was released (incidentally, it was sold out with an unprecedented success), and in 1990 the band recorded two magnetoalbums in Canada. Unfortunately, they never reached the Ukrainian audience. Trying to fill in this gap, the "Oberih XXI" publishing house in 1998 prepared for releasing two albums by the legendary Marenych Trio – "Spring" and "Three Poplars".
The greatest treasure of Ukrainians are songs, they reflect the soul of the nation. And the Marenych family, as no one else, have managed to successfully interpret the finest examples of folk and author songs – and to retain at that the pristine beauty of the melodies..."
