The first thing that catches the eye – the new album by Laura and Khrystyna Marti does not imply such an obvious link with the Armenian roots as the first two did. More precisely – it simply demonstrates much broader rootedness. Even at the level of language – this time it is dominated by English, but there is Portuguese, Ukrainian, and Armenian too. Perhaps, as a kind of expression of love, respect, and – inter-penetration. This is very dense weaving, where the Oriental rhythms and motifs of "Dance me" suddenly get the stitches of the Ukrainian lyrics, and the Armenian "Life is beautiful" sounds as if it is out of the hills of Israel and caught a slight echo of Brazil somewhere on the way. And this happens all the time – after all, regardless of the language of a particular song. This is not Babylon – there, you remember, no one understood anyone. It is a living flow that erodes and connects the banks, connects the river mouth and head – the universal language that protects and remembers all dialects, but does not preserve them, gives them space for movement and development. Actually, this is what the entire album is about: the form is changeable, try and feel what does not depend on it – and therefore has the power to change it. And may the power be good. As it is here.
