Jan Twardowski. Sche odna molytva. (Another Prayer)
"Jan Twardowski (1915-2006) was a priest from Warsaw who wrote poetry and never spoke of himself as a poet. The only important criterion for him was the human heart – the vulnerability that seeks for truth, goodness, love, authenticity, and sincerity. He did not want to convert – but he converted, did not want to teach anyone – but he taught. He managed to overcome the boundaries of the age of his readers, the boundaries of his own country, and of the Roman Catholic Church.

The collection "Another Prayer" begins with the texts written in the early 1950's and 1960's and concludes with the poem written on the day of poet's death. In addition to poetic texts, the book also includes prose pieces – reflections, philosophical meditation, and preaching."

And let me add one more thing: this is virtually the lightest book out of all I have read in recent years. Only true love can sound so simple, honest, modest, and unspeakably beautiful – nothing else. And there is no pathos.
