Mariya Stefyuk, Anatoly Solovyanenko, Kostiantyn Ohnevyj, Dmytro Hnatyuk. Maestros of Ukrainian vocal art. /light pack, slim box/.
Not always the name of a disk is absolutely truthful. But this time another name would be, probably, just unfair. Dmytro Hnatjuk, Konstjantyn Ognjevy, Maria Stef'juk, Anatoly Solov'janenko – the value of these names, these people, these voices for the Ukrainian culture can hardly be overestimated. I know for sure that it is possible not to love the Ukrainian pop variety - and, nevertheless, to admire singing of these masters. I am convinced that one could play this disk for a person who has never heard Ukrainian singing – and his/her heart will tremble and open. For the only condition – that this person has at least some feeling for the beautiful. And those who know – they know already that not many people, and not only in Ukraine, sand and sing so clearly, strongly, deeply as these four. These people’s singing has already for a long time belonged not only to Ukraine – it belongs to the world. And the world, I am sure, becomes better due to it – each time when their voices sound.

Borys Hmyrya. Za myr na Zemli. (For the Peace on Earth)

The military theme is a special page in life and work of Borys Hmyrya, taking into account his forced stay in the territory of Ukraine occupied by fascists (1941-1944)... Only a crystal clear person could perform pieces by soviet composers on military topics in that way.

Dmytro Hnatyuk. Nich taka misjachna. /light pack, slim box/.

There is something in it, some transparent depth, which does not leave you indifferent, so that you feel that the song is performed not formally, as it happens sometimes, but it comes from inside. That’s the reason why it sounds somehow intimately – as if this person himself once composed this song and still remembers why and how it happened.

It's a great CD, one that you can listen to over and over again. You have Ukraine's best soloists, at the height of their careers, singing the songs that made them famous and much loved.
