"Jataka Tales were created based on the early Buddhist folklore as tales about the previous incarnations of Buddha, who in every Jataka appears in a certain form – animal, bird, human, or divine.The earliest Jataka tales were created in the 3rd century BC. They went far beyond India, they influenced the respective literatures of China and Japan – and through Iran and Arab countries Jataka penetrated into Europe, particularly into Ukraine. By comparing, for example, the Indian Jataka tale "Golden Duck", the Japanese fairy tale "Vdjachna zhuravka" (Grateful Crane), and one of the oldest Ukrainian fairy tales "Kryvenka kachechka" (Limping Duck), you realize that people with twin souls live on our planet.
This is the first publication of Jataka tales in Ukraine translated and adapted for children."
