This disc deserves attention for two reasons at once. One (and the main one) is its content. The chamber orchestra "Kyiv-Classic" is one of the best Kyiv collectives, and its high professional level has been repeatedly celebrated both in Ukraine and abroad. Besides, the director of the orchestra, Herman Makarenko, is a noticeable personality – he has earned good reputation on the both sides of the ocean. The orchestra has mastered an extensive classic repertoire – a considerable part of which consists of music by Ukrainian composers. In this case, as you can see, it is music by our contemporaries – and none of these names requires special comments. Though,
M.Skoryk and
Y.Stankovych are more widely known, but the creative treasure by, for example, V.Gubarenko matters, supposedly, not less. At the same time, to find recording of Partita No.1 by M.Skoryk is also not an easy task. And here we approach the second reason: this disc has at present already become a real rarity. It is quite possible that right now you can find it only here – and nowhere else. And it means that in some time it won't be possible to find it anywhere at all...
