On our pages, we have already several times introduced discs with works by Yevhen Stankovych – and we have always been doing it with joy. It is difficult to thoroughly estimate the value of his creativity, because a lot has been done and is still being done, but to overestimate him – that is impossible. It is not even about the value of his work for Ukrainian music – the scale long ago exceeded boundaries of a separate country. But the main thing – in order to understand, to feel it, it is not absolutely necessary to be a musicologist, or even just an admirer. It is quite enough to just listen attentively to any pieces by Stankovych, from chamber to symphonic ones – and there are no longer any doubts: this man enriched not a nation – but humanity – with his creativity. The feeling is absolutely clear – the spaces that live in music by Stankovych breathe real grandeur. And in this case, in relation to his choral works – this feeling is further intensified with the impression created by mastery of performance by the chamber choir "Kyiv". And the impression is very simple: this is, as well as ever – unsurpassed. Besides, this collection reveals Stankovych from two sides – as an author of spiritual music and as an author of music with deep folklore roots.
