It would seem that they have already tried all options with the Ukrainian folklore, it has been mixed with everything – but the theme is still relevant. The secret is, after all, not only the particular perspective – but also the quality of performance. Cooperation of Astarta (a side project by Eduard Prystupa) with Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree bass-player) is just an example of such quality implementation of ideas, when first you do not even try to understand what the essence is, but just listen. Listen carefully, because it is delicious. And then you can speak for a long time about the altered melody pattern, unexpected rhythms, interesting fusion of electronic and acoustic sound, features of compilation, which allow, in particular, the vocal to exist simultaneously and deep within the music texture and sort of beyond it – about just everything. But in the end, anyway, one very simple thing matters: it touches, makes one think about the cooking recipe – and not pay too much attention to this kind of thoughts. This album has a slow, almost meditative drive. A very interesting feeling. The apparent arbitrariness of many lines when correctly assembled – turns into indispensability. Nothing incredibly sophisticated – but it turns out really good.
