"Ukrainian music must have its national coloring, which was inherent in such variety art composers as Platon Mayboroda, Igor Shamo, Myroslav Skoryk, Igor Homa, Bogdan Yanovsky, Volodymyr Ivasyuk. The song is the basis of our modern life – difficult, even cruel one. With the help of a beautiful song a person becomes better. Personally I perform only the songs that I like. Singing is the aspiration of my dreamy, lyric soul... The first inspiration to sing jazz was given to me by the chief of "Medicus" ensemble Igor Homa. He constantly gave me books on jazz to read, discs with records of jazz singers to listen. Due to him, I was introduced to world stars of jazz. I could only copy them first. Once Igor Homa gave me some theme in English and asked me to improvise. This is how my jazz vocal in "Medicus" ensemble started... Lesya Borovetz"...Lesya Borovetz is presently the main soloist of the ensemble "Medicus". So far, in our collective she is the only one who successfully performs both variety art and jazz improvisations. Flexibility of her voice, an extensive range, nice pitch – all of that creates great performance opportunities for this soloist. Moreover, one should add that Lesya Borovetz intones absolutely faultlessly..." Igor Homa (information from the disc's polygraphy) Unfortunately, the recording quality of some songs is not irreproachable, but we decided to offer this material on the web site, as it will sure be interesting for many fans of the Ukrainian music. Pavlik has come back with the album in English. There is the feeling that the album was created mainly for the guys' own fun – and this must be right. By the way, perhaps, this is because there are not only translations of the best songs by Pavlik of various years, but also some nice covers of world hits.

In our opinion, it is the album "Room in the Middle of my Heart" that turns out the best studio album among Viktor Pavlik's works – and it still remains such. So, it is very nice that this disc is now re-issued in good quality – we believe it has not lost its relevance, as good drinks and elegant clothes do not lose it...

...here, one can hear both a capella compositions, and orchestrated ones, and those recorded in the variety art genre. And such variety, as a result, presents Olexander Vasylenko as a vocalist in a very positive light – because different styles, sure, imply different performance nature. And he has succeeded in this – easily, convincingly.

Olexander Vasylenko has released two more related, interconnected works: "Night Garden Flower" and "I Feel Good With You". They are dedicated – to the romance. Thus, it is nice that the term here implies a rather broad sense.

He got his first real popularity approximately 30 years ago. And it was huge – as it was measured by the scale of the Soviet Union. Then there was the victory at the festival in Sopot – and here in those times this was considered a sort of a peak of a variety art career.

First, it's just beautiful – and, moreover, not that simple. Anna Mia Quintet musicians have recorded a seemingly chamber album, but this music would be no less appropriate on a large stage. Very intimate, with a bunch of soft pauses and undertones in its colors – and, at the same time, very prominent, voluminous. Interesting..

...And – freedom, needed in treatment of the form and details. This is what this album is comprised of – well, and a jolt of haphazardness, to spell out in words the somewhat absurd lyricism of the world capable of joyfully and sadly beautiful acts. Even if it doesn't (?) make sense. Exhale and inhale, mind and heart, because otherwise – it does not work, it does not dance.

..on the one hand – the fantasy of jazz musicians. And on the other, all these laces of motions and patterns are thought over and embodied so confidently and easily that this ease allows one to not focus too much, but skip and let it go to the back of one’s mind right away. Instead, one listens to the main melodic line, the beauty and the flexible power of the voice..

It is a living flow that erodes and connects the banks – the universal language that remembers all dialects, but does not preserve them, gives them space for movement and development. Actually, this is what the entire album is about: the form is changeable, try and feel what does not depend on it – and therefore has the power to change it. And may the power be good.

The recording is luxurious – perhaps, one could hardy put it in other words. This is something that so far we have not had: a vocal and instrumental album of Ukrainian folk songs at the intersection of jazz, chamber and symphonic, variety art music (such as, for example, songs by Frank Sinatra or Astrud Gilberto)...

In his time, Igor Zakus became virtually the first jazz bass-player in Ukraine who released a solo album. Thus, the new album by Igor Zakus is what nobody seems to have done before in the Ukrainian jazz. And the word "song" in the title "Ukrainian Bass Song" appears far not by chance. Generally speaking, this is also an album of duets

As a rule the idea of heroic nature has never even crossed the minds of the heroic figures. Moreover they can even get frightened if one alludes to this. But still they continue doing their work. Yelena Popova strikes with universality, it is difficult to define where she succeeds better – in energetic "hits" or in lyric, delicate ballads. Here she sounds with a bright flash, promises an explosion – and does not cheat, grants powerful emotional splashes.
