Despite the extra entertainment (e.g., participation at one of the recent albums by
Perkalaba –
"Dido", or starring in a film – for example, "Everything is Illuminated", based on the same name
book by J.S.Foer), Gogol Bordello is anyway the priority for Evhen Hutz, and it is here that his creative energy is, evidently, revealed in full. Anyway, the new album "Pura Vida Conspiracy" in its power does not yield to the previous ones – this is another, pardon the expression, hooligan Gogel-Mogel on the topic of the modern world's multiculturalism. But – and here's the difference – cocktails by Gogol Bordello become more transparent. Not so much quiet, rather – more considered, balanced internally. The poignancy persists, sometimes it has become even more refined – yet, there is somehow less noise but more accurate, vivid hooks. It seems to be a carnival of weird masks, behind which the simple idea lurks: no one makes you agree to everyday mediocrity. You can do it – otherwise. Nobody but you will add colors to your life.
