Regarding songs by Boombox, it has always been interesting to listen to the lyrics – among other things, due to their ironic ease, their disposition to (and the ability of) playfulness. But the further, the less verbal balancing they contain – but more poignant senses, refined formulas, comprehensive observations. The new (mini)album "Naked King" is a very vivid evidence of that: it seems that there is not a single superfluous, accidental word, including the references to VUZV and Akhmatova, for example. And even the coda – the song "Lyudy" (People) from the previous album – looks like a semantic summary, a conclusion based on everything mentioned in the previous five songs (which, in turn, transforms the optics of this song's perception as well – and the fact that it is performed in a somewhat different way only highlights this perception). And as a soft contrast to the semantic saturation – the music: it includes considerably more space, some inner freedom regarding nuances of sounding. Slightly jazz-like multi-style admixtures appear subtle, but textured – not as ornaments, but as means to develop the idea. Perhaps this is due to a certain impact of the new staff keyboardist of the group, Pavlo Lytvynenko, an experienced musician well-known for our jazz audience. However, Andriy Khlyvnyuk has tended to moving in this direction as well – but now this appears thorough enough. A powerful piece of work – definitely. The release contains a 36-page booklet with photos and lyrics (facsimile) of all the songs.

And if one perceives lyrics of the new album from this perspective – maybe, that could turn out a fairly good story of wandering and revelation..

Something is changing inside. The feeling is as if Andriy Khlyvnyuk submerges much deeper now, and peers much closer, and than suddenly opens up and appears probably even defenceless, vulnerable – and because of that, however strange that may be, stronger. Even if it is painful. And this movement is there.

Well, here it is, "S.P.A.M." – and it is worth having been waited for. In the deciphered form the name of the disc sounds in this way: "System of Programming an Alternative Mind". At least – this means that TNMKongo is really fed up with something.

...The updates are not so radical that it is impossible to recognize originals – but, on the other hand, the sound nature appears surprisingly diverse. Since a good deal of styles are mixed here, the key common feature of all the tracks is not a certain style but high energy value. Actually, it always happens with Tartak.
