As always, the booklet for the disc by the chamber choir "Kyiv" is rich in information that is offered in several languages: Ukrainian, German, French, English. The story about Mykola Leontovych included into the booklet impresses – till now, I somehow have never had a chance to run into such simple and humane variant of his biography. The information and testimonies offered are not very detailed, only some most basic moments are covered – but as a result the feeling arises. That is – you start feeling this man, his creativity as something personal, not just as a "part of cultural legacy of the Ukrainian people"... Due to this, the light and warmth that Leontovych's pieces are saturated with, are realized more deeply – although, actually, his music is in any case able to capture, immerse into reflections, elevate the listener to a new understanding of harmony as such. And that is why – you feel gratitude to the artist who was able to see this harmony and bring it into our world. You feel gratitude to the musicians who managed to comprehend his light – and to convey it in their performance. In the end, gratitude – is virtually the best thing that real, inspired creativity is able to bring to life. And in this case – it does bring it, because lights of the artist and the performers have met in harmony...
