"The hymns ("zadostoynyky") are heirmoses in the honor and glory of the Blessed Virgin Mary sung at the Divine Liturgy during the great feasts of the church year instead of "It Is Truly Meet..." (hence their name).
This disk contains all the hymns of the church year. They are presented in the most recent Ukrainian translation from the Greek language, except for No.4, which is recorded in the Old Church Slavonic. Tunes of all the hymns are adapted to the Ukrainian translation so that they to the extent possible comply with all original music passages, so that the Ukrainian version also preserved the organic link of the melody and the words typical of the entire Eastern Christian music and spiritual tradition. The harmonization of virtually all the hymns presented here is minimalist in nature. The objective is to make them practical for small church kriloses. However, this recording can also be a sort of a guideline – an initiation in the ancient singing for those who seek God and His beauty." The edition contains a 32-page booklet with introductory articles, notes and words of all the pieces.
This disc has been released as part of the project of the Charitable Foundation named after Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky. The objective of the Foundation established by the UGCC Head is preservation and dissemination of the heritage of Metropolitan Andriy to develop the Church, as well as establishment and enhancement of the civil society in Ukraine.
