"The name of the author, sure, does not require advertising. The story is a sort of a "second Noah's Ark" – a Pacific cruise that due to a global catastrophe is destined to become the cradle of a new civilization. The novel intertwines three time lines, describing the causes of these events, their development, and the effect. Resorting to humor, Vonnegut creates a desperate genealogical adventure – a mix of the Old Testament, the Latin American novel, and a collage comic book, where he fantasizes about what the mankind will turn into in a million years. "Galápagos" is an ironic story of the last days of the modern civilization, primarily comic reflections on the human nature."
