A carol song follows a joke, a ballad - reflection follows a carol, something romantic follows a ballad, and again a joke goes, and in the same way one wave follows another, so that there’s no time for real sadness.

And this disc is like a letter, which gives notice that it will come soon. And it gives this notice exactly in a proper way, since New Year holidays are always light, agreeable, domestic and warm. Made with warmth in the heart - and that's why it gives out warmth.

... or 'The Christmas Album' as I sometimes jokingly refer to it amongst my collection of Ruslana CDs. Coming from the perspective of 'Wild Dances', I'll admit that I wondered what I'd be in for with this record, and was delighted with what I discovered. Know that the theme is Christmas and New Year, and that while there are a handful of Christmas songs that Anglos will recognise here - and a curious segue into 'Jesus Christ Superstar' during one moment - there's also a solid (and far more interesting) variety of Ukrainian songs by different performers. The styles ranges across folk rock, ethnic, straight out pop and more. Title track 'Dobryj vechir' receives three different treatments from Ruslana - the pensive version, the dance version and the original version. Taras Chuba' sounds like Ukraine's answer to English folk-rockers Steeleye Span on the very upbeat second track, but my personal fave is the soaring pop of Ani Lorak's 'Rizdvo Rizdvo'.
Before I had a listen, I thought this record might be a bit of an unlikely proposition, but it immediately won me over. Great performers, great songs and great variety! A terrific CD.

I think this a great taster of Ukrainian music. All the songs have their own unique taste but are all equaly good. I am very into Ukrainian music now as my friends have reccomended to listen to some artists like Ruslana, Nazariy Yaremchuk, and I would recomend for you to do the same.

This is a great album of holiday music. Some of the songs I recognize from the music, others I had never heard before. All of the songs are wonderful. It gives a small glimpse into the Ukrainian culture. I am going to have my mother listen to it this year during the Christmas holiday, which is her favorite time of the year.
