 "...Grandeur of the historical destination and the drama of the lonely human soul – these two dimensions are indissolubly linked in the novel. The hetman, revived in his new love, once again leads his insurgent army. Sovereignty of the state is born out of endured individual freedom and mature human will. The poetic novel "Berestechko" was being created at different stages of the opposition of Ukraine and its struggle for independence – starting from the mid-1960s till the end of the 1990s. The 20th century recognizes itself in the 17th century. Ukraine is again forced to overcome the fatal recurrence of its problems. But the drama of the defeat turns into the philosophy of revival, catharsis, resurrection from ruins of the human and of the people. Victory over the defeat – this is the key philosophical and psychological code of this work. Artistic design by Sergiy Yakutovych and a disc with the recording by Petro Boyko together with the poetic novel create a unique artistic synthesis complemented with deep analytics – an article by Ivan Dzjuba on works by Lina Kostenko and an article by Volodymyr Panchenko on "Berestechko". Currently, the release only exists in the hardcopy version - without the audio version.

Слушала диск и сложилось такое впечатление, что Пётр Бойко, конечно, отлично читает, но это уж очень как-то отстранённо получается. Не видела постановки "Берестечка" в театре и не могу сравнить озвучивание текста. Моё мнение, что чтение на этом диске - чисто актёрские приёмы, стремление правильно и выразительно прочитать текст, и это вполне удалось. Но это никакая не драматургия и не передача страстей и мук. Чтец явно хорошо и спокойненько себя чувствует, в отличие от главного героя "Берестечка".

Диск пока не слушала. О книге можно сказать вот что. Обилие иллюстраций на каждой странице, пожалуй, затрудняет восприятие текста, тем более что текст расположен нестандартно, поперёк страницы. Такое впечатление, что текст играет второстепенную роль. Я читала это произведение Лины Костенко на uazone.net, где, конечно, нет никаких иллюстраций и ничто не мешает восприятию. С другой стороны, очень хорошо, что практически весь роман проиллюстрирован, это редкость и большой труд художника.
